Love Inc. Magazine Launch Party
Back in October of 2022, I had the honor of attending the Love Inc. Magazine launch party celebrating the magazine hitting shelves across the United States and Canada. This was especially exciting because early in 2022, I began working for the magazine, managing their Instagram account. So being there felt like I was celebrating a momentous time in history. Additionally, I was surprised just days before the trip when the editor and chief told me that my and my husband's wedding was featured in the magazine! I might have screamed a little when she told me.
Oh, and did I mention that this was only a 24-hour trip? After getting to New York City on a red-eye from Long Beach, California, I only had one day in the City and wanted to make the most of it. Special thanks to my good friend, Eric, for letting me crash on his couch!
Luckily my industry besties, Todd and Adam of Todd Danforth Photography, also flew in for the event, so I had some friends to keep me company. After a little sightseeing during the day, it was time for the main event.
The launch party was held at the Chelsea Industrial in midtown Manhattan. Brian A.M. Green planned everything down to the last detail with perfection, and it was by far one of the most beautiful and fun events I have ever been to! Keeping in theme with “Love on Top,” we had the amazing Riley Knoxx give a surprise performance. For those that don’t know, Riley Knoxx is the # 1 Beyoncé impersonator in the world!
The cherry on top of it all, though, had to be opening the magazine for the first time and seeing the beautiful photos captured by Ashley LaPrade of our wedding day. A masterfully planned day by Michelle Garibay Events. It is such a surreal experience seeing you and your husband in a magazine that you know will be on stands all over the U.S. and Canada. It brought me so much joy and pride knowing that other gay couples might find inspiration from a day that meant so much to us both. I will cherish this magazine forever!
It was such a treat being in a city I love very much, celebrating this huge milestone for the magazine. A highlight for me was being in a room full of people who are champions of LGBTQ+ representation in the wedding industry and feeling like I was surrounded by my people, even if I hadn’t met most of them before. And I wish I could re-live it always!
